When I first started growing houseplants in LECA, I watched many hours of YouTube videos and it was very difficult to separate out good information from mis-information. It was painful, but also exciting as we explored a new way of growing houseplants. I started this LECA and Semi-Hydroponics blog as a way to share information that is well-presented and rooted in science, based on observations, from my own experience as well as other experienced growers. I hope this site can be a starting point for beginners as you learn the basics and decide if this way of growing is right for you. And for those who’s been growing in inorganic medium for a while, I hope this can be a constant resource for you, as well as an invitation for sharing your own experiences as we grow together.
After years of engaging with the community and publishing educational content around semi-hydro growing, so much demand poured in from all of you to create starter-kits as an educational tool. I delved into selling kits locally, and soon found the need to create a better self-watering pot. In 2021 a manufacturer was able to make that vision into reality - and The Perfect Pot was born. I had the pleasure of stocking local plant shops, educational institutes, and even shipped these pots to boutique shops across the US and Canada.
